My new favorite pressure sensor

I’ve discovered another Freescale pressure sensor that has a lower pressure range, making it more suitable for musical instrument applications. It’s the Freescale MPXV5004GC6U:

I find it a better sensor than the ones I’ve used in the past because it has a lower pressure range: 0 - 3.92 kPa, which is more inline with the types of pressure I can produce with my breath.

It is a bit pricey at $22 in single quantities, but I’ve integrated Into my latest wind controller, and I really like its response, especially at low pressure levels.

  1. Hello, your project is a reference in the world of DIY wind controllers, Thank you for having done something so inspiring. I am currently making one based on the esp32, my approach is one that is economical and simple, among its modules I use what I think is the cheapest pressure sensor on the market, the MPS20N0040D-HX710B, which is not widely used thanks to its low sampling rate of about 40sps, which is why I wrote a library https://github.com/habuenav/breath to use it especially as a breath sensor for this kind of projects, leaving only the essential, my project is this https://github.com/habuenav/HEWI there are also links to several libraries that I have created for the instrument. Thanks again and a thousand congratulations.
